What’s This TV Show About?

A Netflix multi-camera comedy, Alexa & Katie stars Paris Berelc, Isabel May, Tiffani Thiessen, Eddie Shin, Jolie Jenkins, Emery Kelly, Finn Carr, Adam Ian Cohen, Iman Benson, and Merit Leighton. The sitcom centers on Alexa Mendoza (Berelc), a high school student undergoing treatment for cancer. Outgoing and enthusiastic, despite her diagnosis and treatment, Alexa loves life out loud. With her unique yet steadfast best friend, Katie Cooper (May), at her side, Alexa refuses to let her spirit falter. The series explores the importance of female friendships in the modern age.
 

 

Telly’s Take

Unless they decide to publicize viewership, it is difficult to predict whether Netflix will cancel or renew Alexa & Katie for season three. Netflix is beefing up its multi-camera comedy offerings for younger viewers, but in the end, it will depend on whether or not this show is giving them enough bang for their buck. My sense is that it will be renewed but it could go either way. For now, I’ll keep an eye on the trades and update this page with breaking developments.
