It’s a win for the cast and crew of the All American TV series. The day after the football drama’s healthy second season premiere, The CW has ordered three additional installments, bringing the second season’s tally to 16 episodes. It’s unclear if the network might order additional episodes in the coming months though Deadline notes that this is considered a “full season” order. Season one also had 16 episodes.

The All American TV show stars Daniel Ezra, Taye Diggs, Karimah Westbrook, Chad L. Coleman, Bre-Z, Greta Onieogou, Samantha Logan, Michael Evans Behling, Cody Christian, Monet Mazur, and Jalyn Hall. Inspired by the life of NFL player Spencer Paysinger, the story centers on Spencer James (Ezra), a rising high school football player and an A student at Compton’s South Crenshaw High. When Beverly High football coach Billy Baker (Diggs) recruits Spencer to join his team, the young man must learn how to live in two worlds at once, maintain his grades, and still leave it all on the field. In season two, Spencer is now a football State Champion who must decide whether he should stay in Beverly Hills or move back to South LA to reunite with his family and play for his father.

The second season premiere of All American attracted a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 884,000 viewers. Compared to season one’s average, that’s up by 36% and 33%, respectively.

All American is the first CW show of the season to receive a backorder (the network’s shows are rolling out this week) but FOX’s freshman drama, Prodigal Son, received a full season order yesterday.

What do you think? Do you like the All American TV show? Are you glad that The CW has ordered additional episodes?
