The final eight episodes of Blue Bloods will air in the fall, but there has already been talk of keeping the world of the long-running CBS drama alive. However, a spin-off will not come anytime soon.
The Blue Bloods series follows a family of law enforcement officers in New York City and stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray.
CBS Studios President David Stapf recently discussed the series and confirmed that a spin-off is expected. However, nothing is concrete just yet. One possible spin-off idea focused on Donnie Wahlberg’s character, but the project did not move forward. That could still happen at a later date.
Stapf said the following, per Deadline:
“We don’t have anything that’s going to be in development soon but it’s a brand, a title and a show that is beloved. We’ve got to get it right so we’re taking our time and trying to figure it out, okay, what is the next iteration of Blue Bloods? We have a whole season to go where we intend to celebrate it all season long as to how good that show is, so there’s still time for us to figure that out.”
The return date for the 14th and final season of Blue Bloods will be announced soon.
