Last year, Days of Our Lives was (once again) the lowest-rated of the four remaining network soap operas. It seemed very possible that it could be cancelled by NBC but the network renewed Days in March 2018. Will it be renewed for season 55 for the 2019-20 broadcast season or, is this venerable soap truly in its final days? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
Premiering on November 8th of 1965, Days of Our Lives is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. It revolves around the members of the Brady, Horton, and DiMera families — along with their friends, enemies, and lovers. Castmembers include Lucas Adams, Lamon Archey, Camila Banus, Nadia Bjorlin, Tyler Christopher, Kassie DePaiva, Mary Beth Evans, Billy Flynn, Galen Gering, Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Olivia Rose Keegan, Victoria Konefal, Lauren Koslow, Eric Martsolf, Chandler Massey, Marci Miller, Casey Moss, Melissa Reeves, James Reynolds, Suzanne Rogers, Christopher Sean, Freddie Smith, Sal Stowers, Josh Taylor, Greg Vaughan, Vanessa A. Williams, and Robert Scott Wilson.

For comparisons: The 2017-18 season of Days of Our Lives averaged a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 female demographic with 2.25 million total viewers.
