TNT and Channel 4 have cast Janeane Garofalo in the upcoming Foreign Bodies TV series. The comedic drama follows a group of young adults traveling across China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The first season of eight episodes hails from U.K. production company Eleven and Entertainment One (eOne). Foreign Bodies is slated to premiere on E4 in early 2017, followed later in the year by its U.S. debut on TNT.
Garofalo will recur as seasoned traveller Sam. She has worked in travel and tourism for 20 years and has had it with visiting exotic places. The character is described as cynical, streetwise and permanently unimpressed. Sam is a counterpoint to the wide-eyed young travelers she meets. She is quick to debunk their foolish, romantic notions about the world and the value of travel. The Foreign Bodies cast also includes: Anders Hayward, Ade Oyefeso, Brittney Wilson, Alice Lee, and Tim Key.

TNT and Channel 4 Casts Janeane Garofalo in Recurring Role in “Foreign Bodies”
Garofalo Joins International Cast in Comedic Drama About a Group of Young Travelers Exploring Asia
TNT and Channel 4 have cast Janeane Garofalo as a recurring guest role in the new series Foreign Bodies, a comedic drama about a group of young adults venturing across China, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. The two companies have ordered eight episodes of the series from U.K. production company Eleven and Entertainment One (eOne). Foreign Bodies is scheduled to launch on E4 in early 2017, followed later in the year by its U.S. debut on TNT.
Garofalo will guest star in the recurring role of Sam, a seasoned traveller who, after 20 years working in tourism and visiting exotic places, has very much had her fill. Cynical, streetwise and permanently unimpressed, Sam is a counterpoint to the excitable, wide-eyed young travellers she meets, and she’s quick to dispel them of their romantic and idiotic assumptions about the world and the value of travel.
Foreign Bodies is the story of a motley gang of travellers embarking on a three-month trip around Asia. The cast, drawn from the U.S., Canada and the U.K., includes newcomer Anders Hayward (Sistema) as delusional romantic Dylan, who thinks every woman he meets is a potential life partner; BAFTA Breakthrough Brit Ade Oyefeso (Unforgotten, E4’s Youngers) as Sean, a friendly, easy-going guy hoping for a bit of escapism; emerging Canadian star Brittney Wilson (Bates Motel), as the blunt and headstrong Ashley, a young American student who is book-smart but emotionally immature; and Alice Lee (Jack, Jules, Esther & Me, Faking It) as May, a high-strung worrier who tends to overthink every situation. British actor, writer, performance poet and Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Tim Key (Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, I Give It A Year) joins them as Greg, a 38-year-old in denial about his marriage, his business and life in general. His upbeat energy hides a multitude of problems.
Created by actor-writer Tom Basden (Plebs, Peep Show, Fresh Meat), Foreign Bodies is written by Basden, James Wood (Rev, Ambassadors), Amy Roberts (The Village, Shameless), Loren McLaughlin (Coronation Street, Shameless), Charlie Covell (Banana, Burn Burn Burn), Tim Key (We Need Answers, Screenwipe) and Jonny Sweet (Together, Chickens). The series is produced by Jamie Campbell and Joel Wilson’s BAFTA-nominated production company Eleven and global studio eOne. Award-winning director Jonathan van Tulleken (Off Season, Movie 43, Misfits) has signed on to direct the first block of episodes. eOne controls worldwide rights to the series outside of the U.K. The eight-part series was commissioned for Channel 4 by head of drama Piers Wenger and commissioning editor for drama Roberto Troni. Carrie Stein, executive vice president of global production, oversees the series for eOne.
