Garrett Hedlund may soon be seen on the small screen. The actor is currently in talks to take on the lead role in The Alienist for TNT.

TNT declined to confirm the talks because there is no official deal in place yet. The Wrap reported that the casting would be a huge boom to the actor’s career. The young actor just wrapped production on another series, HBO’s Mosaic.

The Alienist is set in the late 1800s, and it will follow “the search for a serial killer by a doctor, a reporter and then-police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt.”

TNT is behind the series. It has already committed to spending $5 million on each of the eight episodes that make up the series.
