Are you a big Nancy Drew fan? According to Deadline, The CW is developing a spin-off TV show called Tom Swift.
Based on the Carolyn Keene book series, Nancy Drew follows the titular teen detective as an adult who returns to solving crimes because of a case involving her family. The cast includes Kennedy McMann, Scott Wolf, Alex Saxon, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Tunji Kasim, Riley Smith, and Alvina August. The second season debuts on January 20th on The CW.
The The CW spin-off series Tom Swift would be loosely based on the long-running adventure book series from Stratemeyer Syndicate, which also publishes the Hardy Boys and Bobbsey Twins books.
The proposed show would follow “the serialized adventures of its titular Black, gay, billionaire inventor who is thrust into a world of sci-fi conspiracy and unexplained phenomena after the shocking disappearance of his father. Tom takes to the road on a quest to unravel the truth, leaving behind the comforts of his usual moneyed lifestyle, all while fighting to stay one step ahead of an Illuminati-scale group hell-bent on stopping him. Tom’s missions will require his genius and flair for innovation guided by love, romance, friendship, and the mysteries of the universe yet-unsolved.”
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage serve as executive producers alongside co-creators Melinda Hsu Taylor, Noga Landau, and Cameron Johnson.
