What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on the NBC television network, The Night Shift stars Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon, with Mark Consuelos recurring in season four. Although they’re kind of quirky, San Antonio Memorial’s emergency room night shift staff is extraordinary. They’ll risk almost anything to save their patients. Season three ended with Paul Cummings (Bailey) leading a staff walk-out after his father bought the hospital and fired Topher. Meanwhile, overseas, TC Callahan (Macken) was knocked out, during a refugee camp bombing. The fourth season picks up two days later, with everyone dealing with the consequences of their decisions. In Syria, TC’s proclivity for chaos helps him save people.
 

Season Four Ratings

The fourth season of The Night Shift averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.96 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 32% and down by 21%, respectively. Find out how The Night Shift stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

Although season four premiered with much lower numbers than last season, it is still a bit too early to use the ratings to predict whether NBC will cancel or renew The Night Shift for season five. That said, this show’s audience has declined from year to year, particularly in its demo ratings. While I haven’t left my perch, my interest and appetite are piqued.
