What’s This TV Show About?
An Amazon Prime Video anthology drama, The Romanoffs is a drama anthology from Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner. The series follows eight separate stories centering on characters who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family.
In The Romanoffs season one, the large cast includes: Isabelle Huppert, Marthe Keller, Aaron Eckhart, Diane Lane, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Amanda Peet, Jack Huston, Corey Stoll, Andrew Rannells, Mike Doyle, JJ Feild, Janet Montgomery, Paul Reiser, Noah Wyle, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Bishé, Jay R. Ferguson, Ben Miles, Mary Kay Place, Griffin Dunne, Cara Buono, Ron Livingston, Jon Tenney, Clea DuVall, Radha Mitchell, Hugh Skinner, Juan Pablo Castañeda, Emily Rudd, Adèle Anderson, Annet Mahendru, Louise Bourgoin, Hera Hilmar, Inès Melab, Michael O’Neill, and David Sutcliffe.
The Romanoffs has been cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Could it be revived someday? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless they decide to publicize viewership, it is difficult to predict whether Amazon will cancel or renewed The Romanoffs for season two. It’s also not entirely clear if they intended this to be a one-and-done series. Since there’s certainly potential for additional seasons, I’ll keep an eye on the trades and update this page with breaking developments.
