What’s This TV Show About?

A dark Showtime dramedy, Shameless follows alcoholic father Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) and his resilient, self-reliant kids who scramble to survive. The series also stars Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, Richard Flood, and Christian Isaiah. The cast also includes Scarlet Spencer. In the ninth season of Shameless, which includes the 100th episode, political passions overrun the South Side of Chicago, so the Gallaghers pursue their own brand of justice. While Frank becomes a voice for the everyman, Fiona (Rossum) winds up taking a big risk in hope of bigger rewards. Meanwhile, Kevin (Howey) and V (Hampton) are trying to rebrand the Alibi as a socially conscious business.
 

Season Nine Ratings

The ninth season of Shameless averaged a 0.36 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.04 million viewers. Compared to season eight, that’s down by 34% and 31%, respectively. Learn how Shameless stacks up against the other Showtime TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

Season nine will be Emmy Rossum’s final turn as Fiona. Meanwhile, Showtime expanded the season nine order from the usual 12 to 14 episodes and is splitting the installment into two parts. If the series doesn’t end here, it certainly seems to be working toward a conclusion. I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with breaking developments.
