What’s This TV Show About?

An HBO comedy series, Silicon Valley stars Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Suzanne Cryer, and Jimmy O. Yang. The story centers on a group of IT developers, who live together in Northern California. In the fifth season, Pied Piper has sufficient funding for decent offices and additional staff. Now it is time to introduce its peer-to-peer internet to the world. Of course, this new level of success comes with a brand new set of challenges.
 

Season Five Ratings

The fifth season of Silicon Valley averaged a 0.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 745,000 viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 18% and 8%, respectively. Learn how Silicon Valley stacks up against the other HBO TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

While its ratings plummeted last year, Silicon Valley still snagged a renewal and did better than many ongoing HBO comedies. HBO has to keep their subscribers happy, but they don’t have huge advertising contracts at stake, like the broadcast and basic cable networks do. Last summer, co-creator Mike Judge said he thought they’d go at least six seasons, while executive producer Alec Berg sounded like he thought it could go beyond that. Right now, I’m inclined to seek sustenance somewhere else. Meanwhile, I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with breaking developments.
