Charles Pratt Jr. has been tapped as the new showrunner on Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy’s upcoming FOX TV show, Star, according to Deadline. Charles Murray exited the new music business series last week, reportedly over creative difference. The show is slated for a 2017 premiere.
Pratt is exiting as head writer on The Young and the Restless, to take on the new primetime drama starring Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt. The Star TV series cast also includes: Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grady. Lenny Kravitz guest-stars.
Pratt’s other daytime series include General Hospital, as well as cancelled soaps All My Children and Santa Barbara.
Pratt developed The Lying Game, which ran in primetime for two seasons before being cancelled by (then) ABC Family, in 2013. He has also written for other primetime series including: Twisted, Ugly Betty, Titans, Melrose Place, Models Inc., and Life Goes On.
