Behind the Scenes
|•||Ugly Betty is based on a Columbian telenovela entitled Yo soy Betty, la fea or “Betty la fea.” There are many other adaptations around the world but Ugly Betty is the most unlike the original.|
|•||The series received 11 Emmy nominations for its first season.|
|•||The series was originally being developed as a 2001 half-hour sitcom for NBC but didn’t move past the planning stages. ABC and producer/actress Salma Hayek came on board in 2004 and reworked it as an hour-long “dramady.”|
