The Fluffy Shop: ABC Put Pilot for Comic Gabriel Iglesias

ABC TV shows: ratings (cancel or renew?)

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, who recurred on the now-cancelled Cristela, has a put pilot deal with ABC. The comic will write and star in a multi-camera sitcom, produced by ABC.
Per Variety, the working title is The Fluffy Shop. The series, “…is inspired by Iglesias’ life experience, including the challenges of managing a home life during the few days he spends off the road each week.” Last Man Standing‘s Tim Doyle will serve as show-runner and co-write with Iglesias and Jay Lavender.

From Variety:

Tomorrow Studios CEO Marty Adelstein and president Becky Clements will serve as executive producers along with Joe Meloche.

Iglesias previously worked with ABC on “Cristela,” appearing in several episodes of the network’s now-canceled series. He’s also working with Fuse, having signed a multiyear partnership with the network that includes the half-hour, standalone comedy docuseries “Fluffy Breaks Even!” which premiered earlier this month and airs on Thursdays.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

For ABC, The Fluffy Shop comes as the network continues to look for distinctive family comedies to join a lineup that already features Modern Family, Black-ish, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Fresh Off the Boat and rookie Dr. Ken.

Family comedies have been a high priority for broadcast networks this season, with ABC Studios exec vp Patrick Moran telling THR that his studio was looking for diverse voices — particularly Latino. “People want to see reflections of themselves in something new,” he said.
