The Night Shift: Season Three Renewal for NBC Medical Drama

The Night Shift TV show on NBC: season 3NBC is hoping that fans of The Night Shift will continue staying up to watch their medical drama. They’ve renewed it for a third season.

The Night Shift revolves around the quirky but devoted staffmembers of San Antonio Memorial Hospital who work from dusk til dawn. The cast of the medical drama includes Eoin Macken, Freddy Rodriguez, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Robert Bailey Jr., Brendan Fehr, Jeananne Goossen, and J.R. Lemon.

The medical drama debuted last May and performed pretty well for a series running over the summer months. The season of 10 episodes averaged a 1.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.59 million viewers.

The peacock network renewed it for a second season of 14 episodes and brought it back a couple months ago. Despite having a big series like The Voice as a lead-in, the ratings have actually come down. It’s currently averaging a 1.3 in the demo with 5.32 million.

Nevertheless, it has performed better than many other NBC dramas. As a result, the network has now renewed The Night Shift for a third season. No word on how many episodes have been ordered this time around or when they’ll air them.

What do you think? Do you like The Night Shift? Do you think it should have been renewed for a third season or cancelled instead?
