The Rookie is losing one of its series regulars. Per TV Line, Tru Valentino is not returning to the ABC police drama for its seventh season. The actor was absent at the series’ Comic-Con International: San Diego presentation last month, so his exit is not a complete surprise to viewers. Valentino joined the series as Aaron Thorsen in season four and became a regular during season five.
Valentino took to his Instagram account to discuss his exit from the series, and he noted that viewers could see his character pop up on The Rookie. in the future.
He wrote, “I will always cherish my time on The Rookie but couldn’t be more excited for what the future has in store. I adore the friends and relationships made while being there. It was such an amazing opportunity, and I feel so lucky to have had the last three seasons. Thank you to the best fans in the world. I know I didn’t talk much, but I appreciate you all so much. You never know who may pop back up in the Mid-Wilshire Precinct. Until then, 7 Adam 19. This is Officer Thorsen, over and out”

This news also comes shortly after the series added two new recurring cast members for the upcoming season. The following was revealed about the latest additions:
Deric Augustine, whose TV credits include All American (as Clay), Godfather of Harlem and Shameless, will play Miles, a Texas transfer who despite having two years under his belt, will be a rookie at the LAPD.
Patrick Keleher, of Funny or Die’s The Egos, meanwhile will play Seth, who may seem like the ideal police officer, but the job requires quick, decisive action — and that, alas, is something that doesn’t come naturally to him.
Fillion also recently revealed that viewers could also see characters from the cancelled The Rookie: Feds appear on the ABC series.
Season seven of The Rookie is expected to premiere in early 2025.
