In 2022, Colin Mochrie posted that the cast was getting ready to film their 20th and final season of Whose Line Is It Anyway?. He later clarified that the show could potentially continue, but it would be without the current cast. The CW has been silent on the matter but announced the show had been renewed for a 21st season. Are these just leftover season 20 episodes, or did the network execs change their minds about the original cast and hire them to make a new season? Will Whose Line Is It Anyway? be cancelled or renewed for season 22? Stay tuned.

A comedy improv series, the Whose Line Is It Anyway? TV show is hosted by Aisha Tyler. Each episode typically features show veterans Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady, and a guest performer. The foursome tests their comedic reflexes by participating in spontaneous improv games. After each round, Tyler doles out points to the performers, and she then declares a winner at the end of every episode (not that the points matter). Guests in season 21 (the 13th on The CW) include Jordin Sparks, Tiffany Haddish, Alyson Hannigan, and Mark Ballas.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances of survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

9/16 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

For comparisons: Season 20 of Whose Line Is It Anyway? on The CW averaged a 0.07 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 432,000 viewers.

Note: These are the final national ratings, including all live+same day viewing and DVR playback (through 3:00 AM). Early fast affiliate ratings (estimates) are indicated with an “*”. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled.
