ABC and FOX have found long-lasting ratings success with their Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance competitive reality series. Now, the Peacock Network is cutting a rug with its new World of Dance TV show, based on the global competition franchise. Have they put their best foot forward? Will World of Dance be cancelled or renewed for season two on NBC? Stay tuned.
The World of Dance TV show is hosted by Jenna Dewan Tatum, who also serves as a mentor. Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough, and Ne-Yo judge the NBC competition. The series showcases dancers competing for a grand prize of $1,000,000. Elite solo dancers, partners, and full dance crews compete against each other in multiple categories of dance, including hip-hop, tap, ballet, break dancing, ballroom dancing, and stomping. **Status updates below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
