The Blacklist TV show on NBC: season six renewal (canceled or renewed?)

The Peacock Network is sticking with Red. Today, the The Blacklist TV show was renewed for a sixth season, of 22 episodes, on NBC. The Blacklist season six renewal was announced by NBC on its official Twitter page. Check it out, below.

An action thriller, The Blacklist centers on one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) who offers to help the authorities, if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) partners with him. The cast also includes Diego Kattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Mozhan Marnò, and Hisham Tawfiq.

The Blacklist: A Look at the Ratings:

Though ratings aren’t as strong as they used to be, The Blacklist is still a solid performer for NBC. So far, season five is averaging a .94 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.678 million viewers. Compared to last season, that’s actually a nearly an 8% increase in viewership.

Status of Other Sony Shows at NBC

Earlier this week, we reported that Sony was negotiating with NBC over season six of The Blacklist, Timeless season three, and two potential new series: Guess Who Died and a Bad Boys spin-off, LA’s Finest. According to Deadline, NBC has declined to pick up the two new series, and a decision has not yet been announced regarding a third season of Timeless. That show’s two hour season finale airs at 9:00pm ET/PT, on Sunday, May 13th. Perhaps news will break soon thereafter. When we know more, you will, too.
