Last year, NBC moved Dick Wolf’s Chicago Fire TV show from Tuesdays to the more competitive Thursdays. The ratings dropped off significantly, but it remained a top-ten performer for the network. Now, it’s back for a seventh season. With the move to Wednesdays, will it stabilize or even regain some of its audience? Will Chicago Fire be cancelled or renewed for season eight? Stay tuned. **Status update, below.
An NBC action drama, Chicago Fire stars Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Eamonn Walker, David Eigenberg, Joe Minoso, Yuri Sardarov, Christian Stolte, Kara Killmer, Miranda Rae Mayo, and Annie Illonzeh. The series follows the personal lives and work lives of the Chicago paramedics and firefighters working on Engine 51, Truck 81, Ambulance, and Battalion 25. No occupation is more stressful or dangerous, yet so rewarding and exhilarating. These courageous men and women forge headfirst into danger when everyone else is running the other way. As part of the Chicago franchise, this series also features crossovers with Chicago Med and Chicago PD.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

For comparisons: The sixth season of Chicago Fire averaged a 1.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.98 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Chicago Fire TV series? Should this NBC TV show be cancelled or renewed for an eighth season?
