After four seasons on Tuesday nights, the popular Chicago Fire TV show is being moved to Thursday nights — a very competitive evening for network television. Will this NBC drama’s audience follow this series to a new night? Will the ratings fall or rise? Cancelled or renewed for season seven? Stay tuned. *Update below.
Chicago Fire follows the personal lives and work lives of the Chicago paramedics and firefighters working on Engine 51, Truck 81, Ambulance, and Battalion 25. No occupation is more stressful or dangerous, yet so rewarding and exhilarating. These courageous men and women forge headfirst into danger when everyone else is running the other way. The TV show’s cast includes Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Monica Raymund, Eamonn Walker, David Eigenberg, Joe Minoso, Yuri Sardarov, Christian Stolte, Kara Killmer, and Miranda Rae Mayo. Recurring players include Randy Flagler, Anthony Ferraris, and DuShon Brown.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Chicago Fire averaged a 1.52 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.05 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Chicago Fire TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a seventh season on NBC?
5/9/18 update: NBC has renewed Chicago Fire for a seventh season for the 2018-19 season. Details here.
What happened to fighting fires?? It’s turned into a damn soap opera!! I use to love watching this show cause it was exciting…bring it back and get Kelly a new girlfriend!
I really liked both Chicago Med and Chicago Fire, but the background music is so loud, it makes hearing the dialog impossible. If I turn up the volume so I can hear the speaking voices, then the music is so loud it nearly blows me out of the house. I saw one complaint board going back to 2012 where people were complaining how many shows on t.v. today have such loud background music the dialog is impossible to hear. It seems that television producers simply don’t care. I’ve quit watching several shows that I liked because of the way they… Read more »
I like the show. But the background music is so loud it’s hard to hear the actors speaking.
I used to like Chicago Fire when Mathew Casey’s wife named Gabby Dawson was still on the show. However, I heard rumors that they are going to get rid of Gabby Dawson. If they get rid of Gabby Dawson, then I am no longer watching the TV show.
Loved this show. Exciting, and characters are interesting and varying. Keep me entertained. Good storylines.
The final two-hour episode was such a soap opera, it should have aired in the daytime, alongside The Young and The Restless, General Hospital, etc. Geeeeeezzz!!
PLEASE PLEASE MORE CHICAGO FIRE!!! Thursday NIGHT???? STATION 19 TOO!!! ITS OK I WILL WATCH ON LINE ON DEMAND!!! TRUST ME!!! YOU MUST CONTINUE LOL
Please bring back a season 7. Love this show.
Please bring in Season 7 of Chicago Fire, Season 6 of Chicago P.D., and Season 4 of Chicago Med. I watch all these tv series through Hulu and they are truly entertaining. Thank you.
Well just watched first show season 7 and it will be my last. I’m dam sick and tired of the writers , putting in characters that screw with station 51. Their enough to write about then to screw with 51 and Broby. That’s it for me, I’ve got better things to do.
