After four seasons on Tuesday nights, the popular Chicago Fire TV show is being moved to Thursday nights — a very competitive evening for network television. Will this NBC drama’s audience follow this series to a new night? Will the ratings fall or rise? Cancelled or renewed for season seven? Stay tuned. *Update below.
Chicago Fire follows the personal lives and work lives of the Chicago paramedics and firefighters working on Engine 51, Truck 81, Ambulance, and Battalion 25. No occupation is more stressful or dangerous, yet so rewarding and exhilarating. These courageous men and women forge headfirst into danger when everyone else is running the other way. The TV show’s cast includes Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Monica Raymund, Eamonn Walker, David Eigenberg, Joe Minoso, Yuri Sardarov, Christian Stolte, Kara Killmer, and Miranda Rae Mayo. Recurring players include Randy Flagler, Anthony Ferraris, and DuShon Brown.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Chicago Fire averaged a 1.52 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.05 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Chicago Fire TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a seventh season on NBC?
5/9/18 update: NBC has renewed Chicago Fire for a seventh season for the 2018-19 season. Details here.
Chicago Fire is great! Please DON’T CANCEL this show! The actors are spot one and the stories are fantastic. Please renew Chicago Fire for Season 7!!!
I love this show.!! Since they don’t kill off characters like other shows, it makes the show fun to watch.. almost like you have a true connection with them. I also enjoy the frequent crossovers, with Chicago PD, Chicago Med .
This show definitely is several grades above Station 19 ( wonder who they will kill off soon)
This show has GREAT stories. Please keep this show on as good tv shows are hard to come by. Chicago Fire is one of the best.
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW NBC!!!!! I LOVE this show. It’s a great show. Please do not cancel this show I beg you!
We love Chicago Fire and hang out as a family to watch i! Will follow whatever day it’s on . It’s far superior than Chicago med or Chicago PD . Great dialogue and great cast chemistry!
Should definitely be RENEWED, Chicago Fire is a great show that I look forward to!!
I hope there keep making chicago fire/pd/med
They are all very good
Chicago Fire should be renewed. Chicago trilogy best shows on TV. Acting & writing second to none.
I honestly think Chicago fire should make a 7 season tbh they should continue for many seasons to come and #keepchicagofire
The ratings on this show are awful. Moving the show has absolutely killed it. Did NBC do enough advertising when they moved it? I thought they did. It I don’t know what the +3 and +7 ratings are, but the live ratings are pathetic compared to what they used to be.
NBC moved it to Thursday with terrible lead-ins shows. That, and the fact that the show was interrupted by Thursday Night Football, has really affected the ratings. I love the show and hope that NBC will renew it and give it a better time slot.
I think the live ratings are poor because thats the only data which is collected. I may be wrong but it wouldn’t suprise if more than 50% of viewers do not watch on NBC but rather on catch up TV or places like Hulu instead. Not many people can actually watch at the time it’s first broadcast. (That’s just my opinion). 🙂
Love this show I think it needs to add a little romance and spice to balance out the fire stories. Loved that it looked as though Sylvie (Kara Killmer) & Antonio (Jon Seda) were getting back into a relationship. Love it when the shows cross over it makes for plots to be more interesting. Wish they could keep that relationship . I would really miss this show if it ended i enjoy it. acting is superb. Please renew.
We loved Chicago Fire, but we didn’t know where they relocated it or if they cancelled it. Next time, advertise when you change days. Please do not cancel Chicago Fire, Chicago Med or Chicago PD. We love these shows.
I love this show along with Chicago pd and Chicago med! Please renew these shows I look forward to them every season and will diffinately watch them on Thursdays!
The ratings have dropped a lot, just like Chicago Med’s ratings did when they moved that. The show is only in its 5th season. I don’t know what the +3and +7 ratings are, but the live ratings are nothing to write home about. NBC should be worried.
Please renewed and the blacklist show so darn good.
Love this show!! NEVER cancel it. I will follow it to any day and time it is on tv.
