What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on the HBO premium channel, Crashing stars creator Pete Holmes in a semi-autobiographical role, with Dave Attell, Dov Davidoff, and Artie Lange playing versions of themselves. Also starring are Lauren Lapkus as Pete’s ex-wife, Jessica, and George Basil as Leif, her former lover. Jamie Lee recurs as Ali Reissen. The series follows Pete (Holmes), who dives into the cutthroat NYC comedy scene, after his marriage falls apart.

Guest stars in Crashing, season two, include Joy Behar, Doug Benson, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Wayne Federman, Jermaine Fowler, Gilbert Gottfried, Penn Jillette, The Lucas Brothers, Eugene Mirman, John Mulaney, Aparna Nancherla, Dr. Oz, Jeff Ross, Bobby Tisdale, Melissa Villaseñor, and Henry Zebrowski.
 

Season Two Ratings

Telly’s Take

Will HBO cancel or renew Crashing for a second season? The show’s performance in its first season wasn’t all that impressive, but since it is not ad-supported, HBO makes its decisions in order to please paying subscribers, foster relationships with talent, and burnish its image. The Nielsens do give us an idea about audience reception but don’t tell the whole story. Though the ratings continue to be quite low, I suspect Crashing will be renewed.
