When it escaped today’s earlier cancellations, it looked like Kevin James might get a third season with his most recent sitcom, but that was not to be. CBS has cancelled the Kevin Can Wait TV show, and now the fans’ wait has come to an end. EP Andy Fickman broke the bad news. Check out his announcement, below.

A CBS sitcom, Kevin Can Wait stars James as Kevin Gable, a former police officer who, after the death of his wife, finds himself working for his old rival, Vanessa (Leah Remini), at her security firm The cast also includes Taylor Spreitler, Ryan Cartwright, Mary-Charles Joes, James DiGiacomo, Gary Valentine, and Leonard Earl Howze.

 

 
Kevin Can Wait: A Look at the Ratings

The second season of Kevin Can Wait averged a 1.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.37 million viewers. Compared to season one, when it averaged a 1.61 rating in the 18-49 demo and 7.63 million viewers, season two was down by about 27% and 17%, respectively.

Of the 27 CBS TV shows we’ve been tracking through the regular season, Kevin Can Wait ranked sixth in terms of its demo average, but sunk to 15th place, when we sort by average total viewership.

CBS Cancellations and Renewals

In addition to Kevin Can Wait, today, CBS cancelled two other TV shows: Superior Donuts and Scorpion. The network also renewed six series: Criminal Minds (season 14); Man With a Plan (season three); Life in Pieces (season four); Instinct (season two)Big Brother: Celebrity Edition (season two); and Elementary (season seven).
