What’s This TV Show About?
A Showtime comedy-drama, Kidding stars Jim Carrey, Catherine Keener, Judy Greer, Frank Langella, Cole Allen, Juliet Morris, Bernard White, Juliocesar Chavez, Julitta Scheel, Coda Boesel, Mary Faber, Dan Garza, and Ginger Gonzaga. The story centers on Jeff Piccirillo (Carrey) aka Mr. Pickles, the beloved host of the children’s television show, Mr. Pickles’ Puppet Hour. As his family starts to break down, Jeff finds no solace in the stories and puppets he has always used to navigate stormy seas. Soon, Jeff’s own father and executive producer, Seb (Langella), starts to make plans for making the show without him — while Jeff continues to lose his grasp on reality.

Telly’s Take
Will Showtime cancel or renew Kidding for season two? Showtime isn’t ad-dependent, so ratings aren’t always as crucial to their TV shows’ survival. Though the ratings haven’t been great, I think Showtime gets enough mileage out of having a Jim Carrey show to renew it.
