What’s This TV Show About?

A CBS detective drama, Magnum PI is an updated reboot of the 1980s Tom Selleck vehicle. The new action-adventure series stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephn Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill. It centers on former Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), who is back from Afghanistan and working as a private investigator. Magnum lives in a guest cottage on the Robin’s Nest estate in Oahu, where he also serves as security consultant. With his team at the ready, a vintage Ferrari at his disposal, and his trademark aviator sunglasses, Magnum is always ready to crack the next case.

 

Season One Ratings

Telly’s Take

Will CBS cancel or renew Magnum PI for season two? Considering how many people tuned out after watching the premiere of lead-in Young Sheldon, things didn’t look good, right from the start. The numbers have declined since then but I think CBS really wants to renew Magnum for a second season so they’ll give it every chance they can (including ordering a full first season).
