Smallville featured a very different Supergirl. Laura Vandervoort starred on the CW until it ended its run, but she is returning to the DC Comics world in a very different role this season. She will appear on an episode of CBS series Supergirl as a villain.
Vandervoort spoke about returning to the world of DC Comics in an interview with Collider. She said:
“Of course, it’s a little strange, but at the same time, it’s a new show and it’s a different character. It’s not the same Supergirl. She just has the same name and history, but they’re portraying her differently than we did on Smallville. I think it’s great. I think it’s nice to change things up. It is a lot of fun. It’s a wink at the audience when I’m with Melissa [Benoist] in a scene, with everyone knowing that history. It’s great.”
Vandervoort also revealed that her character, Indigo, was “very fun to play.” She was able to do things as a villain that she had not been able to do in her previous roles.
Landervoort currently stars in Bitten. That series is airing its final season on SyFy, but the actress is hopeful that the series will be saved and return for a fourth season.
