Last week, it was revealed that seven series regulars — Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck, and Sofia Hasmik — had been cut from the cast of Superman & Lois for its upcoming fourth season due to cost-cutting measures. Word was that some of the actors could return in recurring guest roles.
One that won’t be returning is Walsh as Lois’ father, General Sam Lane. His wife, Leslie Bourque-Walsh, made that clear in a post and a comment on Instagram. She said the following about his being let go from Superman & Lois, “Congrats to the families of S&L for finally getting the update of their fate. We now know General Lane was cut due to budget. It was a fun ride. Bye.”
When asked if Walsh might recur, Bourque-Walsh indicated that he won’t be back for a practical reason, “It isn’t about the money per se. They asked him and other cast [members] to do 3 out of 10 episodes. He would need to be guaranteed 7 to do it. We moved our family to Vancouver and 3 out of 10 isn’t worth us staying.”
Superman & Lois will return to The CW with a shortened season of 10 episodes. Due to the writers strike, it is not known when precisely the superhero series will return.
The only regular returning cast members are the core Kent family, played by Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Michael Bishop, and Alex Garfin. Michael Cudlitz was also upped to series regular for season four. He plays the villainous Lex Luthor.
What do you think? Are you sad that Walsh will not return for season four of Superman & Lois? Do you think the show should have been cancelled, instead of renewed with fewer cast members?
