The mystery of The Outsider won’t continue on HBO. The cable channel has cancelled the series but the MRC studio is planning to shop season two to other outlets.
Based on the novel by Stephen King, the thriller series centers on the mysterious murder of an 11-year-old boy in rural Georgia. The cast includes Ben Mendelsohn, Cynthia Erivo, Bill Camp, Mare Winningham, Paddy Considine, Julianne Nicholson, Yul Vázquez, Jeremy Bobb, Marc Menchaca, and Jason Bateman.
Season one of The Outsider averaged a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demo and 914,000 viewers, making it one of HBO‘s highest-rated TV shows of 2020.
“We enjoyed our collaboration with Richard, Jason, Andrew, and the MRC team, and we wish them well in continuing the world created by the brilliant Stephen King,” an HBO spokesperson said.
