What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, The Toy Box is a toy design competition, hosted by Eric Stonestreet. Toy designers present their concepts to mentors including Dylan’s Candy Bar owner Dylan Lauren, toy guru Jim Silver, and Pixar Creative Director of Consumer Products Jen Tan. If they pass the muster, they move on to the real test, kid judges Sophia Grace Brownlee, Aalyrah Caldwell, Toby Grey, and Noah Ritter. They will decide which toys will progress to the finals. After the season finale, the winning toy will be sold exclusively at Toys ”R” Us.
Season One Ratings

As of June 15, 2017, The Toy Box was renewed for a second season.
Season two will debut on October 1, 2017, at 7:00pm.

Telly’s Take
This TV series can’t be very expensive to produce with Stonestreet probably drawing the largest salary. The prize is the chance to sell the winning toy at Toys ”R” Us. In addition, the Mattel toy company is one of the producers. The Toy Box is practically a walking product placement and airs early enough for all but the youngest children to watch. Still, the ratings have been pretty poor. This one could go either way but I suspect it won’t be nabbing a second season renewal.
