Look out, America. The Conners are coming back to Lanford, Illinois. There’s a Roseanne TV show revival in the works, and original series stars Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalf are reportedly on board.

A family sitcom, Roseanne originally ran for nine seasons on ABC from October 18, 1988 to May 20, 1997. The cast also included Michael Fishman, Alicia Goranson, Johnny Galecki, Sarah Chalke, Natalie West, Estelle Parsons, Martin Mull, and the late Glenn Quinn. According the the report, the idea is to involve as much of the principal cast as possible — even The Big Bang Theory‘s Galecki.

Deadline reports:

The new installment is executive produced by the original series’ EPs Tom Werner, Barr and Bruce Helford as well as Gilbert and Whitney Cummings, with Helford and Cummings co-running. The project is currently in the marketplace, with multiple networks bidding, including original Roseanne home ABC, and Netflix, which has been staging reboots of classic sitcoms including Full House and One Day at a Time, along with new installments of cult favorites Arrested Development and Gilmore Girls.

Just like with the upcoming new season of Will & Grace — which considered a streaming play before closing a deal at NBC, where the original series had aired — ABC is considered the sentimental choice to air the new Roseanne episodes.

Recently, Goodman visited Gilbert on her CBS talk show, The Talk, and the two staged a Roseanne spoof. Check it out.

According to the repot, when the topic of a Roseanne revival was raised during his visit to The Talk, Goodman was enthusiastic about it, saying, ““Oh, hell yes, if we could get everyone together. The Big R [Roseanne Barr] and I did a pilot about five years ago that didn’t go anywhere, but we were very happy to work together.”

At the time, Gilbert was also in favor of it, but still a little hesitant, adding, “Your only fear is you don’t want to do a bad version, because you don’t want to damage what’s been done.”

Barr has tweeted that she thinks the time is ripe for Roseanne‘s return, saying the current “political reality” is fodder for new jokes.
