CBS Ratings Race: Partners Falls to New Series Low; Cancelled Yet?

Partners cancelled yet?Partners, CBS’ only struggling sitcom, hit a new series low this week. The network hasn’t pulled it yet and it doesn’t seem likely that they will any time soon. It ‘s performing quite poorly compared to the other CBS Monday night comedies but isn’t a big bomb. The network will likely let all 13 episodes run and then just replace it with Rules of Engagement, the venerable utility player. The last time Rules aired regularly on Mondays (in 2010-11), the series averaged a 3.1 demo rating with 8.6 million viewers. Rules could do significantly worse and still outperform Partners.

Since the last edition of the Ratings Race, several CBS shows’ averages went up or down but none budged in the overall season rankings. Those that saw slight average declines are 2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Partners, and 60 Minutes. Those that gained are Mike & Molly, Hawaii Five-0, The Mentalist. The Good Wife, Blood Brothers, CSI: NY, and Undercover Boss.

What do you think? Will CBS air the whole season of Partners? Will they cancel it? Share your comments below.

These charts incorporate the daily final CBS show ratings (reported by Nielsen) and are sorted by the 18-49 demographic. Network advertisers typically prize those viewers most and so will pay more to reach them. There’s lots of information that the networks take into consideration when cancelling or renewing a TV series but the ratings are the biggest factor. The higher the ratings, the better chance that the show will be renewed. And yes, they take it into account when a show airs on a Friday or Saturday night.
