TV show description:
This TV series gives a new take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle characters. It’s a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases.
Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric detective Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare — a sober companion, Doctor Joan Watson (Lucy Liu). She was a successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago.
Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he’s devised his own post-rehab regimen — resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City.
Watson finds she has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. In the end, Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator.
Sherlock’s police contact is Captain Tobias “Toby” Gregson (Aidan Quinn). He knows, from previously working with Scotland Yard, that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team.

Elementary is without doubt the finest show on tv. The stories are superb and the acting of Sherlock has to be award winning.
Elementary is CBS – indeed any form of media entertainment – in exceptionally brilliant form. It is a show with no equal when all it’s nuances and exemplary acting are considered. I hope it continues for years to come. Sadly, for as yet unknown reasons the best shows seem to be the ones cancelled. I surmise it may be due to the declining interest in intellectual stimulation combined with the growth of vain “reality tv” and other forms of frantic non-cerebral nonsense that better suits those for whom intellectual pursuits are beyond their grasp – a group which unfortunately comprises a large percentage of modern day viewers.
I’m glad the show is coming back next year. I look forward to watching this show every week. It’s terrific.

Elementary is a dang good series…please do not cancel..just love watching Holmes & Watson every Thursday night…
We finally decided to give it a try since CBS actually kept it going longer than 6 episodes. We figured why bother – they always kill off shows just as you start getting into them. Well, we like it! We like it! …now CBS will kill it off for sure. (Hope not!)
hope elementary is around for a long time.one of our favorites
