CW 2013-14 Season Ratings [updated 4/16/14]

cw-tv-show-ratingsOf the five networks, The CW has the fewest hours of primetime to fill but they’re not finding it any easier to find hits. Most of their returning shows are way down year-to-year and some of their new series are struggling. Which will be cancelled or renewed? Stay tuned!

CW shows this season (so far): The 100, Arrow, Beauty and the Beast, The Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie, Nikita, The Originals, Reign, Supernatural, The Tomorrow People, The Vampire Diaries, and Whose Line Is It Anyway?.

How does The CW decide what to cancel or renew? They look at a lot of different factors but the ratings play an important role. The higher the ratings, the better chance a show has of surviving. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing so far:

Check the other networks’ season rankings: ABC | CBS | FOX | NBC

Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.

A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.

Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are therefore supposedly harder to reach.

Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.

The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays or Saturday, nights when TV viewership is lower.

What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make room for something else?

The Tomorrow People & Beauty & The Beast, both deserve to be renewed!!!! The shows, casts, stories, and directors are all most excellent in my opinion!!!! Since, I am 48yrs. of age and a female, who is single and white, and I have always been a big fan of SciFi/Fantasy/Horror from way back in the 1970′s!!!! So, I kinda know what I am saying in regard to these shows!!!!! It would be a bad idea if the CW let two good shows go down the drain because of the stupid nelson or whatever rating system is being used to date!!!!! I took college and I know about demographics and as such, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to meet your targeted audience, but you need shows that are able to cross these barriers, and these shows do the latter, so I say to the CW rethink strongly, I urge you to!!!! Because, if you want your channel to be manestream again, then save these two shows!!!! And, possibly air shows like you used to on Saturday and Sunday nights if need be!!!!!

Star Crossed should be renewed! It’s a great show and I’m sure as it continues the audience will grow larger and larger.

To those of us that love Star-Crossed and hope for another season:

This may give you hope that there may be a renewal. Or, at lease, someone in our corner that recognize the reasons that the ratings may be lower than they should be. Please check out this article.

The CW (channel 57 where I live) have some REALLY crappy shows . How is it that any of them are being renewed? The CW should be CANCELLED!

Hart of Dixie has low rating and no one says anything about the show. That it was .02 and said it was .03. So why its not announced its cancelled or renewed?

I love Star Crossed. It is a shame the ratings are so low because its a great show and I would really like to see it renewed. Please renew it CW. I also like the 100. Its a great show too. I just wish people would give them a chance and it upsets me to even think they may only get 1 season.
