canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Battle Creek: Cancelled, No Second Season on CBS

by Trevor Kimball, May 8, 2015

Battle Creek TV show on CBS: canceled, no season 2It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.

Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.

The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.

Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.

There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.

What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?

Are you serious? This show is like a breath of fresh air. Perhaps another night or time slot. Good actors – more like real life yet so entertaining. So disappointed. Meanwhile boring so called reality shows remain and are horribly staged with obnoxious people.

Good show, bad placement. After two intense shows, it might be too much to sit through another hour. And if the schedule has been delayed by a game, most of us give up and go to bed.

CBS: You never gave this series a chance. You put it in a time slot doomed to failure. It definitely has a following in spite of its being delayed and preempted by basketball, etc. The episodes have gotten better and better with each week, but potential viewers have been frustrated and fianally lost by scheduling inconsistencies. It is as though CBS decided it needed a ‘scapegoat’ series to sit in that undesirable spot and Battle Creek was given that task. Come on CBS, these actors and writers deserve better. Is the idea of a Midwest small town as the focus… Read more »

I’ll give you the scheduling was a bit of a problem. However; I see this show as so many new shows. They come up with an interesting concept that does well out of the gate and then the writing goes south because they only really had concept material for a couple episodes. To grab that target group you have to hit a lot of home runs because the attention span is short and the competition of so many other shows or on line activities is way too vast to keep interest if you’re only appealing to a small segment Sorry,… Read more »

Ditto. Why can’t we get a minimum 2 year run on major drama?

Battle Creek is a great show and we are just starting to learn more about the characters. Why cancel a show without giving it a decent chance of surviving???? Yet again, very disappointed in the big networks for killing off great shows to early. Hoping Netflix or someone else picks it up.

This one deserves a second change… great story line, characters you can relate too. I really loved this show. With all the other new shows out and everything being cancelled.. give people a chance to fall in love with this one. I hope a smarter station picks it up and gives it a better time slot. (not that it matters since I have it on DVD .. )

($@% it! Ruin my tv watching why don’t you? This was the best show on tv with its genius quirky cast. Smart. Funny. Fantastic. Random. This show needs time for viewers to catch on. It’s too good to cancel. So disappointed in CBS.
