by Trevor Kimball, April 13, 2015

SHARK TANKABC has announced that Beyond the Tank, their Shark Tank follow up series, will debut on Friday, May 1st. It will run for three weeks.

Here are the details:

SERIES PREMIERE

“SHARK TANK’S” COMPANION SERIES, “BEYOND THE TANK,” PREMIERES MAY 1 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) FOR THREE WEEKS ON ABC

Learn More About the Entrepreneurs’ Personal Journeys as Well as Their Struggles and Triumphs as They Persevere to Pursue the American Dream

“Beyond the Tank” is a one-hour companion series from the producers of the Emmy-winning reality series, “Shark Tank.” Audiences familiar with the compelling ups and downs of the negotiations will be further engaged in the drama that takes place after the entrepreneurs’ appearance on “Shark Tank.” What lies in the aftermath of their investment? Did a promising deal turn sour, or did it lead to millions of dollars in sales? The season premiere, “Episode 101,” airs FRIDAY, MAY 1 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (“Beyond the Tank” will run for three weeks through Friday, May 15).

In “Episode 101,” Robert Herjavec rolls up his sleeves to help guide San Diego, CA entrepreneurs Evan Melsohn and Nick Morton, the “Tipsy Elves” business duo from Season 5. They find themselves at a crossroads when it comes to branding their clothing design company and if Nick should quit his job as a dentist and participate full time in the business.

Sixteen-year old Carter Kostler from Virginia Beach, VA felt devastated when he did not get a deal for The Define Bottle, his fruit-infused water bottle, after appearing in a Season 5 episode. He shares how he turned his first venture at being an entrepreneur into a learning experience that will last him a lifetime.

When former pro-football player Al “Bubba” Baker and his daughter, Brittani Bo Baker, pitched the Sharks in Season 5, Daymond John won the battle to invest $300,000 in their Deboned Baby Back Ribs business. But when Daymond goes to Avon, OH and discovers that production is not under control and orders aren’t keeping up with the demand, the Shark wonders if he made the right business decision.

Mark Burnett, Clay Newbill and Leslie Garvin are the executive producers of “Beyond the Tank.” Mark Burnett, Clay Newbill and Phil Gurin are the executive producers of “Shark Tank,” which is based on the Japanese “Dragons’ Den” format created by Nippon Television Network Corporation. The series is produced by United Artists Media Group in association with Sony Pictures Television.

“Beyond the Tank” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format with stereo sound. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to the airdate.
