Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

I am so sad to read that they cancelled this show!!!! Bring in back!!!! I really enjoyed it. Would love to at least see it finish…….
Please bring it back…it is a great show…
It seems that whenever I find a program worth watching it is canceled. This is one of the reasons I no longer enjoy television.
I’ve been waiting for the second season of Camelot. I can’t BELIEVE that it would be cancelled. It was a brilliant perspective on the aged old tale; classy, well told and produced. My husband and I and friends looked forward to it each week. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that it’s a terrible move on the part of Starz. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID! As for Spartacus, my husband and I refuse to watch that bloody, pornographic mess. Spartacus takes everything too far for the screen and leaves nothing to the imagination. I guess that’s what Starz is moving towards. If so, I’m canceling… Read more »
That SUCKS!!!!! Truly upset….
OMG it’s been cancelled!!!!!!!??? I purchased and watched the entire first season, and I was just searching online for the second season when I found the news. How depressing.
I’ve read that Camelot cancelled it’s 2nd season. However, I continue to hope that the production will be resurrected–wishful thinking. But honestly, I got hooked to the show and was really looking forward to the 2nd season. Now I’m left feeling like an abandoned child. My recommendation is that you return to production and give the show a second chance, 2nd season.
I am a Camelot buff love King Aurthur and other english history whether fact or fiction. At least complete the series. The previous episodes were well done. Come now make us happy.
Sorry to read that there will be no second season! I was addicted to the first one and you can not leave us whit no end like this, it’s terrible!
Please continue this excellent serie!
Sorry to hear that this show has been cancelled. it was brilliant and will miss it, please bring it back…loved the show
Never heard off the show till the other day love the storyline so I bought the box set… Watched it really liked it and now I’m reading its canceled, really that’s a bad move it’s up there with Spartacus!!! Bad call
Usually not into King Arthur type stories, but really like this one,and was looking forward to the second season.Just like HBO cancelling Deadwood, bad idea
I went through every channel on my cable last Sunday looking for Camelot and it had disappeared. Cable Onda here in Boquete, Panama, has carried it. Camelot is one of the best shows I have seen in many a year and I found it by chance while searching for English language movies one Sunday. If the voice of your loyal customers has any persuasion, please add mine with a request to renew this fascinating story. Once again I am relegated to cop show reruns and a mixed bag of movies and channels I have no interest in since good historical… Read more »
I agree with those that said it is time for networks to have the moral responsibility of finishing the story. Far too many times I’ve been left hanging, wondering about the outcome of a series. Camelot proved to be a well told tale, and a pleasure to watch each week. SOMEONE should step up to the plate and continue with the series. If not, shame on you, Hollywood.
