Last year, USA Network aired the Rush TV series — a dark drama that revolved around a troubled physician. It was cancelled due to low ratings. This year, the cable channel is airing another troubled doctor drama. Will it perform any better? Will it be survive to see a second season? Stay tuned.
Complications follows a disillusioned suburban doctor (Jason O’Mara) who’s still dealing with the emotional effects of his young daughter’s death from cancer. He unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a 12-year-old boy’s life. The rest of the cast includes Jessica Szohr, Lauren Stamile, Chris Chalk, Beth Riesgraf, and RonReaco Lee.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/29 update: USA has cancelled Complications after one season. Details here.
Final season averages: 0.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.44 million total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like the Complications TV series? Do you think that it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love the show! Keep it going to see what Gretchen and John come to face next! Love them both, don’t let it cancel!
Rush has NOTHING on this show. Complications is great and should definitely be renewed!
Everyone who doesn’t like it, go watch “reality” TV. This is a great show!! We look forward to it every Thursday, and if we miss it we record it.. Hope they keep it.. Good show and its action packed.. That’s what’s great about it.
So, just to clarify: We either have two choices: Either like this show, or watch reality TV? Are you sure we can’t have a third choice, like “watch well done scripted television?”
Who knew the word was so binary?
I love the it!! I literally count the days until it comes on again. I haven’t gotten into a show the much since Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad!
I do not like Complications nor do I expect any of my views to be posted; let alone read by the universe.
I also think this show has potential. I am plain tired of seeing everyone’s hunky dory life on TV. Things are hell for many of us in the real world. Least this show depicts many similarities to what can happen in real life. Show is nowhere near boring, the main actor deserves a chance since he is above reproach and also comes from another unjustified cancelled show. Sure there are things that are unbelievable in this show, but do I want to believe everything I watch? No, that is what entertainment is about, right? Breaking Bad was totally unbelievable also… Read more »
The show started out good with a new premise but every episode kept getting unbelievable! I know of no doctors that bow to police or even a hospital that lets detectives roam around like they own the place and to hell with patient care! The crazy nurse who cares only about people she doesn’t know and nothing about her so called friends and apparently has no life. The hospital employees are all idiots or junkies. The totally nut case female doctor that apparently will tell anyone anything about any patient or doctor and the hell with patient confidentiality or malpractice… Read more »
why does it have to be real, real life is a lot worse
Love Complications! Won’t miss it!
Hmmm . . . yes, sadly, I too liked Rush. An inverted image of House with a
tan. Entertaining summer television.
You can smell Matt Nix in the stew. Like early years of Burn Notice, if you
missed an episode, you missed a lot. Complications has the addictive
possibilities of Burn Notice. Let’s give Complications a chance; it took Burn
Notice nearly the full first season to get us comfortable with the characters.
i think its quite alright. People demand simple these days. Stuuuupid and simple. Too much going on……..right. What Im saying. Its a good show, therefore likely to get cancelled.
I Love this show. This is my favor show after breaking bad.
Everything about your comment is incorrect. Although I’m sure you’re extremely intelligent and so much more astute than everyone else on the planet (your sweeping generalizations obviously indicate that), people don’t want “stupid and simple.” If they did, shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad would have failed.
Second: This show isn’t complex. There aren’t “a lot of things going on.” It’s just poorly written, and half the characters come directly from central casting tropes. If it fails, it’ll be because it was bad, not because it was “too complex.”
Definition of a truly horrible, very bad, no good day? Getting drawn into a gang shooting, then getting inextricably linked to Nurse Ratched in the Emergency Department! The first hour of the Pilot was great, but the story began going into decline during hour two and by the second episode it is devolving into total craziness. I am debating whether or not to continue watching, but it feels like I am trying not to look at a bad accident on the highway as I pass by. I may not be able to give it up!
This sums up my experience. When she showed up at the door of the tiny non-imposing “abuser” (who should’ve been painted more negatively, IMO), I laughed out loud. Bad, bad writing, and a very unlikeable character.
wow, ANOTHER .4 show, what is this like 10 in a row. watch it while it lasts, cause this thing is headed to cancelville like most of the rest of USA .4 rated shows
most summer shows are in this range. nobody is watching summer tv.
fan excuse bingo square I-26, let me guess, next you will use excuse 0-95 and tell me the show is too high quality for the average viewer followed by excuse ……
no one is watching it cause it stinks, not because it is summer. do a little research and you will see several TV shows pulling in numbers BETTER than fall ratings. how is that possible if “no one watches tv in the summer?”
and how do you explain USA’s poor ratings the rest of the year? no one watches tv in the fall, winter spring?
This is a kickass show! Very intense action and plot. I love the actors quality. They are developing some great characters. I hope to God they don’t cancel it. I’m 3 episodes into it and can’t wait for the next.
“Rush” was a great show, and one of my favorite shows. Sadly it wasn’t a moronic reality show, it was smart, clever and edgy, so that the majority of moronic Nielson families were busy watching “Dancing with the Stars”, or “Duck Dynasty, or some other piece of crap, and because USA doesn’t have any balls like FX does, they cancelled it, a simple case of NO brains on the part of the public, and NO balls on the part of the network, a bad combo!
Rush was royal pains the gutter version, it was trash and was thrown away like it should have been
Just when you think it can’t get much worse….it does, what the hell? I can take only so much drama, when it gets this heavy, I stand back and regroup. I’m not quite sure about the direction of this series, but I’ll give it the bebefit of the doubt.
Frank Romo – Let’s give Complications the benefit of the doubt – I really think it may have potential.
Robert Hahn – I’m kind of pissed that they cancelled RUSH also, that was definitely a different premise and genre’.
I watch this show with my 23 yet old daughter, we both like it and hope it is renewed. We too, were disappointed when Rush was canceled and when Battlecreek wasn’t renewed. My husband is getting to where he almost doesn’t want to invest the time to watch anything new because they are canceled so quickly.
I agree. This show has TOO much going on – too much catastrophic type things. First hour was great, lots of promise, but then it went into totally unbelievable from all directions.
