canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Crisis: Cancel or Keep NBC’s New Drama?

by Trevor Kimball, March 31, 2014

Crisis TV show on NBC; cancel or renew? This season, NBC has found ratings success with new TV series like The Blacklist and Chicago PD. Unfortunately, many of their other new shows — Sean Saves the World, The Michael J. Fox Show, Ironside, etc. — have been cancelled or soon will be. How is Crisis doing? Will it survive to see a second season or will it be cancelled as well?

An action/thriller series, Crisis finds out what might happen if the children of powerful people from Washington, DC were to be held hostage. The cast includes Dermot Mulroney, Rachael Taylor, Lance Gross, James Lafferty, Max Martini, Michael Beach, Stevie Lynn Jones, Halston Sage, Max Schneider, Joshua Erenberg, and Gillian Anderson.

The show debuted in mid-March to a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.5 million total viewers. It was a less-than-impressive start for Crisis and it was in second place in its timeslot.

The second episode dropped 17% in the demo and 21% in viewership. That would be a reasonable second week decline but the ratings were already low to start. Last night’s episode fell again, to a 1.0 in the demo and 4.32 million.

While it seems likely at this point that NBC will let all 13 episodes of Crisis air, it’s higly unlikely that the network will be ordering a second season. The numbers are just too low at these levels.

Hopefully the producers will give loyal fans some closure by the end of the first season because that’s likely all they’re going to get.

But, what do you think? Have you been watching Crisis on NBC? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

DO NOT cancel Crisis. Am tired of all the good shows being canceled before people even have a chance to find it. This happens all the time and it is very frustrating. Am tempted to get rid of TV all together because it is a horrible feeling investing your time and, lets be honest, emotions into these shows/characters only see them leave right away.

It is great show but will be more effective as a Mini-Series, rather than a show that runs for years. If they will give the viewers a good closure at the end of the first season, tying up loose ends, etc, that will leave it as an awesome Mini-Series that accomplished what it needed to and was very entertaining.

Please leave it on. Its an exciting show. Take the crappy shows off like Smo knows. The way I see it is if you act totally stupid you get to star in your own show. If a show makes sence and you can’t wait till next week when its on again you take it off the air. I have a dvr and record it when I’m not going to be home. DON’T TAKE IT OFF THE AIR PLEASE

His is a show that my husband and I enjoy. Although some of the scripting and actions taken by the FBI/CIA could be modified to make the story line better, please do not cancel the show. It really comes on at a bad and tough time. We typically are not watching much TV on a Sunday due to church and other family events.

Admittedly, Crises is loosely based and is a ridiculous scripted show. That said, for whatever reason, I am continuing to watch it even though it deservingly will be cancelled. I am just hoping that as bad as it is I am not sitting each week and watching it in vein. If it is going to be cancelled anyway, please do not tell me they are going to end it with a season ending cliff hanger…that would really suck as there aren’t going to be anymore seasons and wouldn’t be fair to their audience (regretfully me included). Please, tell me that… Read more »

Interesting premise of how different branches of government agencies work or do not work together. Would like to see it continue with other story lines.

I love the show! It’s a show that continuously keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next? It goes at such a fast pace and gets my heart racing! I would really like it to keep going! Sometimes, great shows have picked up much higher ratings because they were given a 2nd chance. Why not give this terrific show a 2nd season in September to capture more viewers in the fall?

Why cancel Crisis? So you can put another cop show on instead. Some of use do get tried of the detective shows like C.S.I and S.U.V. and many more I can name. Nothing is wrong with them but its basically the same. Crisis is a great show that I believe doesn’t need to be canceled.

Such a good show! Please Don’t cancel it. You give us new programs, and we get really into them, and then you take them off. I wish you would stop playing God with our programs! If you are axing this great show, at least let us see the remaining episodes so we are not left hanging in the air! I’m going to stop watching these new things you put on, so I don’t feel robbed by you when you take them off’ who decides what stays or goes? There is a lot of scrap you leave on! I’m pretty much… Read more »

I really like the show, but have to tivo it, because it is in a hard time slot in that its up agaiiinst well seasoned shows finishiing out the season and devoted watchers have to finish ou the season. Not a fair time to put it on. That is wh Intelligenc3e, which I also liked didnt make it because of the seasoned competition.

Keep Crisis for next season. Have to admit, I like the serial type shows that build each week.
