canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Crossbones: Cancelled? NBC Series Shipped to Saturdays

by Trevor Kimball, July 24, 2014

Crossbones TV show on NBCNBC has decided that their low-rated Friday night drama, Crossbones, will now wrap with a pair of episodes on Saturday August 2nd. The installments had previously been set for Friday, August 1st and Friday, August 8th.

Though the network hasn’t said that Crossbones has been cancelled, the ratings have been terrible and it’s highly unlikely to return for a second season.

Crossbones revolves around the life of Edward Teach (John Malkovich), better known as Blackbeard the pirate, and his desire to aquire a valuable invention called the longitude chronometer. Others in the cast are Yasmine Al Massri, Richard Coyle, Claire Foy, David Hoflin, Tracy Ifeachor, and Chris Perfetti.

Crossbones is a great show! It is different from others and has potential for much more. They need to keep it and continue the expansion of the characters.

My wife and I also are surprised and upset that the show may be camceled. I to feel the show did not get the proper exposure needed to succeed. I believe this is some of Johm Malcavich’s (mutilated his name, sorry for that) best work since Cyrus the Virus.

Please renew Crossbones. Seriously love the show and am glued. Wherever I am, I will come home on a Friday night to watch. If NBC cancels this show, they will be wrong. NBC should try a different time slot before they even think of cancelling this show. Hopefully if NBC does cancel this amazing program, another network will pick it up.

I don’t understand why Crossbones would have bad ratings unless not enough people knew of it! My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the series and we’re looking forward to it continuing! Please don’t cut it!

I agree with most of the posters. Crossbones is a great show. Right now it is the only show I record and watch. I too liked Dracula. These shows are as close to the pay channels shows as the censors will allow. I will be sad to see Crossbones go. Malklovich is great as Blackbeard. NBC is clueless. Next I guess they will replace Fallon with Conan.

I am thoroughly upset and disappointed that NBC has chosen to cancel Crossbones. I don’t watch much broadcast tv. We usually watch food, history, tnt, and others on Dish. When I saw that NBC was going to air Crossbones I was excited to be able to watch something more interesting than reality shows and stupid shows on a regular broadcast channel. I am so very disappointed in NBC for canceling this great show instead of moving it to another day to see if that would increase the ratings. I am sorry I started watching it because now I am let… Read more »

I watch Crossbones every week, I love it. NBC you have a problem you have no idea what people watch Who ever is your #’s person they have missed the bar. You have had some really good shows this spring and summer and you keep getting rid of them. NBC used to be #1 but no more, wake up. If a show does not have the #’s you want move it around don’t just give up on it let the people know so they can move with the show and more can watch it. John M. is the best he… Read more »

NBC has lost me. Well, that is, after I watch the last episodes of Crossbones. The network has nothing but boring reality crap and when they finally get a well written interesting show they stick it on Friday night and then whine about viewers. I will never again let myself start watching ANY series on NBC because the idiots will pull it too soon.

I’m with Maggie & so are my friends. You hurt yourself NBC by canceling Dracula! I wanted to watch Crossbones AND Rosemary’s Baby but chose not to because of fear of cancellation.

Umm, point taken but Rosemary’s Baby was a two-part movie, not a series. Both parts aired, it was not cancelled.

Typical of NBC, get people addicted to a good program, they kill it. NBC needs to get their priorities straight or shut off. Most of their so-called ‘high raters’ are moronic ‘reality’ shows that display morons pathetically proving they suck and will do anything for $. NBC should rename itself Nothing But C… because that is exactly how it is acting.

Shoot. I have been watching (DVR’ing) Crossbones since the beginning. It is a very entertaining show and Malkovich is terrific in it. If NBC cancels it they are as stupid and ignorant as people are saying about them. This show is a winner. Put it in a good time slot and find out.

I only watched the first episode and I have recorded all the rest. I was going to watch a couple more to see if the series interested me, but haven’t yet. I am always searching for a good Friday or Saturday program

I vowed after the cancellation of Dracula to never watch NBC again. But this has been pretty good, but it will go the same way as Dracula, due to the time slot and NBC’s ineptitude. They will never learn, so won’t even watch the last episodes, as I’m not investing in something again, just to have the rug pulled out from underneath me! When will you EVER wake up NBC? Put Dracula back on! and move it and Crossbones to another night! Grimm will be the next one to go, as fans of Dracula pulled out of NBC after you… Read more »

It doesn’t surprise me that Crossbones has such low ratings. When will NBC learn to put some kind of crap that no one will ever watch on Friday nights! #1 It is opposite Blue Bloods on another station.#2Just like Dracula, it will never get the ratings cause no ones home Fridays to watch anything! After the fiasco of Dracula, Grimm will be next, as fans of Dracula have abandoned NBC, and rightly so! Good luck Crossbones, you’ll need it with a network like NBC!
