Despite having some awful ratings, ABC has renewed their fairy-tale musical comedy series Galavant for a second season.
On Galavant, a dashing hero (Joshua Sasse) once lost the love of his life (Mallory Jansen) to an evil king (Timothy Omundson). It’s now time for him to exact his revenge and restore his “happily ever after” — while singing. The rest of the cast includes Vinnie Jones, Karen David, Luke Youngblood, Ben Presley, Daniel Evans, Stanley Townsend, and Genevieve Allenbury.
The series debuted well with a 2.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.42 million viewers. In week two, the ratings plunged 38-45%. In week three, they dropped another 17-30%, falling to a 0.88 demo rating with 3.42 million. The numbers bumped up to a 1.09 rating with 4.37 million for the fourth and final week.
Galavant is a unique series however and adds some variety to ABC’s schedule. With another limited run expected, that would seem to be a major reason for the show’s second season renewal.

Thrilled that NBC may be getting smart and giving us something different and not giving up on it. This is why HBO and cable channels are becoming more successful.

I liked this sow but there are so many other shows that were canceled that were much better. Revenge, for example, was so much better and it was cancelled. ABC is just plain stupid. I am watching so much more cable programming.
I can’t believe this show was renewed, when ooother ABC shw got cancelled. Public opinon means NOTHING!!! Someone knows someone. Must be another insider decider decision.

Love this show. So refreshing from all the violence with blood and gore. So pleased that it is going for season 2
