There weren’t big ratings for ABC Family’s Huge series so the cable channel has cancelled it after just 10 episodes.
Huge follows a group of seven teenagers who are sent to weight-loss camp with diverse results. The cast includes Nikki Blonsky, Hayley Hasselhoff, Raven Goodwin, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holliday, Harvey Guillen, Stefan Van Ray, Jacob Wysocki, Molly Tarlov, Gina Torres, Zander Eckhouse, Zoe Jarman, and Paul Dooley.
The show debuted to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic last June with 2.53 million viewers. ABC Family bragged that it was their biggest series launch to date among women 18-49 and second largest in adults 18-49 and women 18-34.

Unfortunately, the numbers started to fall in week two and slowly kept dropping off. By week eight, Huge hit a series low with a 0.5 rating in the demo and 1.34 million viewers. That represents an audience loss of about 45% since the debut. The last episode of the season attracted just a 0.6 rating and 1.45 million total viewers.
Now, according to Deadline, ABC Family has decided to cancel Huge. Unfortunately for the show’s loyal viewers, there won’t be a second season or a true series finale. The last episode aired on August 30th.
The decision to cancel Huge doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially if you look at the great success that ABC Family has been having with other new shows like Pretty Little Liars and Melissa & Joey.

I think this sucks Huge was one of my fav new abc family shows. Pretty little ho’s as I call it is just another pathetic knock off teen drama flooding our air ways. Huge gave a differant look into teen drama that wasnt show as much and I really enjoyed the fact Abc family was willing to go there and open our hearts…its painful to be stabbed back and not even given a season 2…Huge was the only new show I watched Pretty and Melissa I was bored with terriably.
FAIL. This show was actually quite good…it focused on topics of substance and contained genuine characters and clever humor. MAKE A SEASON TWO.
I find it terrible, that huge was canceled it was basically the only show i watched on abc family. And I myself being overweight felt a huge relief when this show came on, i felt so much better about myself and it taught new things to me.. and how i feel towards myself.. and to know that there was a show out there that proved to kids that being overweight can be reversed and now its canceled and it sucks big time, because now theres nothing inspirational to the obese kid community… thanks alot abc family

I agree with grumpiestoldman they should do like a movie or something just to finish up the story.
So trash like The Secret Life of the American Teenager that promotes teen sex, teen marriage, and teen pregnancy and also is the worst written show on tv gets to stay, but a quality show like Huge gets the axe? Huge is a mature show, but is a show that the family could watch together because of its coming-of-age stories and realistic characters. Huge was never advertized properly and it was the only show without the ABC Family cast promo videos that play during commercial breaks (obviously because the cast was overweight and didn’t look like models). I’m very upset to hear that Huge was cancelled. I thought it was a really good show and was looking forward to another season.

I am destroyed. My whole family loved Huge. I’m mad enough to block ABC Family off my cable.
I wish they would at least do a 2 hr movie to let them tie up the story lines.
ABC Family should be grateful 1.45 million people actually watched their channel, because now those 1.45 million people have one less reason to turn to it.
It sucked because it was too similar to Mike & Molly, another show with overweight people.

Your reply makes no sense to me. These are 2 completely different shows. One is a sitcom; the other a drama or dramedey, one is for adults, the other is on ABC Family; the 2 don’t compare. The only thing they have in common is that the theme is the issue of being overweight. If you still insist on comparing, “Huge” was on for months before “Mike & Molly” saw the light of day.
