CBS kept Hostages on the air even though it became obvious that it was doomed to be cancelled after one season. How has Intelligence fared? Will it suffer the same fate or will it be renewed for a second season instead?
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Josh Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
Debuting on a Tuesday night in January, sandwiched between NCIS and Person of Interest, Intelligence’s first episode drew a very healthy 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 16.49 million viewers.
Unfortunately, most of those viewers didn’t return for the second episode the following Monday. That attracted just a 1.2 in the demo with 6.2 million, a decline of more than 50%.
The numbers have risen and fallen since then but have generally been moving downward. Last week’s episode tied a series low in the demo and hit a new low in viewership. Looking at the averages, it’s also the lowest-rated show currently on the network (aside from Saturday night’s 48 Hours).
Like Hostages before it, it’s clear that Intelligence won’t be back for a second season. The ratings are just too low. CBS recently renewed most of their primetime shows for next season. Intelligence was one of the few that were missing from that list.
At this point, we can hope that the producers finished the 13 episodes in a satisfying way.
But, what do you think? Do you like Intelligence? If you were running the network, would you renew it or cancel it to make way for something else?
Let’s face it, there are not very many shows worth watching these days. That is especially true of the majority of new shows. It would be very sad to see Intelligence not returning for a second season. The show has a great plot, good characters, and its content didn’t include any “smut” to make its episodes interesting. Who knows, maybe thats why it wasn’t a hit. I wish they would give it another try. At least we still have NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles.
Please don’t tell me that you cancelled this show. This was one of your better shows as of late. I stay up to watch Intelligence at 10pm but, I agree it should come on at maybe even 9pm. Considering you moved to Monday’s there’s nothing that would prevent you from having the show come on at an earlier time slot. It’s not like Monday’s have anything interesting on anyway
Intelligence is a great show!!! why would CBS cancel a show after only 13 shows and put it on at 10pm? the reason the shows initial 16 million viewers went down to 6 million the following week is it went from the most popular night on tuesday sandwiched between NCIS and Person Of Interest. They should put this show on Saturday night at 9pm, not Monday at 10.
We always watched it and if we were not at home, we taped it! Don’t cancel a great show. You guys don’t ever give a new show enough time for people to really decide if they are gonna like it. Love the show, please don’t cancel. At least give it one more season!
The best show, I’ve seen in a long time. Those stupid comedies could go to hell. It was something I was looking forward every Monday night, now it’s gone. I hope, they’ll consider for the next season.
I vote to keep “Intelligence” on the air. I didn’t miss a show. I’m hoping it will come back. A real good show! And there are not many of them anymore!!
Just move Intelligence to an earlier time. The rating will eventually pick up.
I think intelligence is one of the best shows on right now next to the NCIS shows!!!!!
I love Intelligence. It is one of my favorite shows. I am disappointed that it will not be renewed for a second season. There is so much garbage on T.V. This is one of the few good ones and should be renewed.
Love the show. Hope they renew it.
This is one of my favorite shows, if not my favorite! The cast is outstanding. I look so forward to Monday night. I really hope the show is not cancelled, that would be a tragedy.
Intellegence is a good show. One I would let my children watch if it came on at 8 instead of 10. Part of the problem is the weird programming. I can never count on any program to be on at it’s regular time each week. Please stop the on one week, cancelled the next. I find it all so frustrating that I have begun waiting for the season to end and watching on disc or Hulu. That applies to all shows that have any kind of story line. If it is great like NCIS I wait now and buy the… Read more »
Please!! Do what ever it takes, to keep intelligence, on the air,
Why cancel, a great show?
I think they our crazy to cancel this program ! I look forward every week to watch this! The writers just need to get more creative ! I so sick and tired of these network canceling great shows with no warning! Maybe they need to change it to a better time zone instead of at 1000pm . People our tired by. Then and go to bed! They also need to juice things up with love interests! This show is so much better then NICS , person of interest, csi, and holy **** if anything should be canceled that stupid Big… Read more »
