CBS kept Hostages on the air even though it became obvious that it was doomed to be cancelled after one season. How has Intelligence fared? Will it suffer the same fate or will it be renewed for a second season instead?
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Josh Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
Debuting on a Tuesday night in January, sandwiched between NCIS and Person of Interest, Intelligence’s first episode drew a very healthy 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 16.49 million viewers.
Unfortunately, most of those viewers didn’t return for the second episode the following Monday. That attracted just a 1.2 in the demo with 6.2 million, a decline of more than 50%.
The numbers have risen and fallen since then but have generally been moving downward. Last week’s episode tied a series low in the demo and hit a new low in viewership. Looking at the averages, it’s also the lowest-rated show currently on the network (aside from Saturday night’s 48 Hours).
Like Hostages before it, it’s clear that Intelligence won’t be back for a second season. The ratings are just too low. CBS recently renewed most of their primetime shows for next season. Intelligence was one of the few that were missing from that list.
At this point, we can hope that the producers finished the 13 episodes in a satisfying way.
But, what do you think? Do you like Intelligence? If you were running the network, would you renew it or cancel it to make way for something else?
IT WAS A GOOD SHOW. PLEASE RENEW FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
CBS USED TO HAVE INTERESTING SHOWS…… I guess it is back to NETFLIX. If I may ask, why is network television so terrible, with a few good exceptions. all the good shows get cancelled.
Intelligence was one of the few reasons I ever ventured to network television. You, CBS, have successfully driven me back away from network TV.
PLEASE bring back Intelligence!! It’s great sci-fi with a heart, and good actors. It was my Monday eve show!
Don’t cancel the show!! Even though the ratings are low it is still a show to keep for the people how are set on watching more of the show! Its too good to pass over on.
Really…. you finally get an awesome show on Monday. Now your going to cancel it…well doesn’t that just figure..we keep all those dumb reality shows and stupid comedies..the only decent shows you have are ncis ncis los angeles Hawaii 50 & intelligence & criminal minds
You are kissing right…you keep all those dumb comidies. And cancel an awesome show..
I am getting tired of loving a show just to have it cancelled. Why doesn’t the network look at comments like these or somehow get the data from on demand or Netflix. If they got better tracking t see who watched they would see Intelligence is a favorite of a lot of people. Most of my friends and family are hooked. Don’t take off the air please
YOU MUST KEEP INTELLIGENCE ON THE AIR!!!!!
It’s amazing that the people who want the show on are usually not the one’s polled…I know I have never been asked to rate a show. ..Keep Intelligence on the air
I want this show back
Give Intelligence anther chance!!! They left us hanging!!! Good show….action and Riley and Gabriel were funny good together!!
I am really bummed. I look forward to watching Intelligence every Monday night. I would really like to see it come back next year. The actors and the story are great. It would be interesting to see what happens between Gab and is protector.
I want to know more about Riley’s past! I love this show!!
GET THIS SHOW RENEWED!!
Do not cancel Intelligence , It was my favorite Monday night show. CBS- You can cancel
All the stupid Reality shows that I do not watch. I like POI, but not as a rerun in place of
Intelligence, I now watch the Blacklist on NBC at 10 pm, so bring back Intelligence .
Please ………….. Please ………..
My wife and I really like the show. If CBS is so short sighted to cancel it, hopefully SyFy could pick it up
