The Braverman family will be back next season. NBC has renewed Parenthood, their family drama, for a fourth season.
The move certainly comes as no surprise if you follow the ratings. While the show has been in danger of cancellation in the past, the state of NBC’s current schedule ensured that Parenthood would be renewed for another round of episodes.
It also certainly didn’t hurt that the show is produced by NBC-Universal and is coming close to having enough episodes for syndication.
According to TV Line, Parenthood has been renewed for a 15 episode season. If the ratings are strong enough, the order could certainly be increased to a full 22 episode season.
This season, Parenthood averaged a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.13 million total viewers. On our NBC Ratings Report Card — which measures the demo success of shows on the network — Parenthood has a solid “A” grade. It’s the third-highest rated scripted show on the network this season.
We’ll know for sure if Parenthood will be returning next fall (very likely) and on what night.

My wife and I were really bummed to hear the show was possibly being cancelled. I feel like it’s one of the few shows on TV that a) isn’t REALITY TV and b) has morally responsible content. The show does a great job in bringing dignity back to the portrayal of the modern American family unit.
Love this show and thrilled that it will be back. It has great characters and actors and depicts realistic situations. In this day of constant Reality shows,Parenthood is a breath of fresh air.

If the cast stays the same, it should last a few more seasons. One of the few shows that is close to real parenting experiences. Very refreshing and our children can watch it too! I wish more TV was family appropriate.
From the first episode I have enjoyed this show. My son and I have watched it diligently and have missed it. This is phenomenal news considering other shows that are on. I enjo it and my son can enjoy it too. We’ve had conversations about relationships, families, choices, how parents care for children when they are “grown”, and how teens feel when parents seem too close! It’s been great. Glad it’ll be back!!!
I ‘m so happy to see that “Parenthood” will be returning. Along w/ several other commenters, it is MY favorite TV show. ** As a therapist, I find the Parenthood episodes far more realistic/less superficial than the typical “Modern Family” plots ( For example, the presentation of Max’s autism issues I see as very timely/relevant/interesting) That’s my opinion despite all the hype about Modern Family as “America’s Favorite Family-based program”— ** Since you asked the question, I think I can imagine enough material for 2+ more seasons of Parenthood. I am sooo happy that Parenthood has been renewed for the fall. Like other commenters, this is my FAVORITE show and look forward to it each week. Every time the network has that other show in its time slot, I just find another channel to watch!

Yes!!! Been waiting for this news! The only show that has filled my Friday Night Lights void. This could definitely hold up for a few more seasons.
