NBC has decided to yank their freshman sitcom Perfect Couples from the schedule after April 7th. It’ll be replaced by The Paul Reiser Show on Thursday nights. Does this mean that Perfect Couples is canceled and gone for good?
Perfect Couples revolves around three young couples. Dave (Kyle Bornheimer) and Julia (Christine Woods) are the “everyday couple,” who are messed up in all the “normal” ways. Vance (David Walton) and Amy (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) are the high-passion, high-drama couple. Rex (Hayes MacArthur) is a reformed party guy and Leigh (Olivia Munn) is a self-anointed relationship guru who considers it her duty to mold the other couples in their image.
The NBC sitcom has been struggling in the ratings from the beginning. The network gave it viewers a sneak peak in December and that generated a terrible 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.56 million viewers. A month later, the second episode brought a mediocre 2.1 rating and 4.15 million. The numbers quickly started falling and the latest episode hit a low of a 1.2 rating.
The whole season of Perfect Couples currently averages a 1.5 rating in the demo and just 3.27 million viewers. It’s the lowest-rated scripted series on the network by far and even The Cape has a better season average. Bornheimer has committed to a new FOX pilot while Walton has signed on for a new NBC one.
So, no, NBC has not cancelled Perfect Couples officially, there are many very strong indications that it won’t be back next season. NBC has no incentive to bring it back and even cast one of the sitcom’s actors in one of their new shows.
Right now, it looks like there will be four unaired episodes of Perfect Couples. They may or may not see the light of day at a later date.

I stumbled on Perfect Couples on Hulu and watched the entire season in about 1.5 days! I was laughing out loud and even had that lil ab-burn from laughing so hard. I haven’t felt like this about a sitcom for a long time. Its the “its funny coz its true” kind of comedy that is just so fresh!!
What can we do to get this back on the air? I’ll sponsor a couple of episodes if it comes down to that!!!
This series has just finished airing in the UK and it was superb! It was so funny, cleverly written and had great actors. I was really disappointed to hear that there will not be any programmes being made.
Does NBC listen to pleas from its audience to bring back shows? Or are all these messages to bring it back a waste?
NBC makes some truely questionable choices. Whitney is one of the worst sitcoms to crawl out of the ’80s. The fact that it made it on the air, but they can’t find a place for perfect couples is insanity. Get rid of one of those reality shows they stocked up on. It was smart and funny and relatable.
If ‘Whitney’ and ‘Community’ deserve to be on the air, then Perfect Couples definitely does!!!! Bring it back!
Yes, I am sorry to see it end. I thought it was a great show, with good acting. I think it should play well with my demographic (25-35 years old). I would put this show up there with my other favorites: Parks & Rec and Modern family. I’d also like to see Cougar town come back. Who doesn’t like Courtney Coxs? If ‘Happy Endings’ is still on the air, than Perfect Couples deserves another season!!
I loved this show, there wasn’t one episode I didn’t laugh through. I am still waiting to get the full season dvd. I really wish it was still on. Please bring it back.

Whitney is really really terrible. Perfect Couples started out terrible, but grew funnier each episode. Too bad the rating were so low. Surprising considering how good the show got and that it was between two hit shows. Bring it back and toss Whitney in the trash, truly awful that one is.

Perfect couples is hilarious, me and my finance would always make sure we were home that night just to watch it. It gave us something to look forward to during the week.

Perfect couples was a great fit with the office, parks and rec, community. It was funny and i think more people will like it,,BRING IT BACK!
I loved this show. It was hilarious and had great characters and good writing. I like it a lot better than Happy Endings. I was looking for this show in the fall and it never came back. Very disappointing.
