This docu-series gives viewers an inside view of top tier trauma teams of the emergency rooms and operating rooms of the nation’s most prestigious hospitals — including the Boston Medical Center, Massachusetts General, and Brigham and Women’s.
Lives are saved through feats of miraculous skill and those who need care receive the very best that medicine has to offer. The series tells stories of heroism, poignancy, and unexpected humor.
A man is rushed to emergency surgery when doctors discover a tear in his aorta preventing blood flow to his lower body. His wife and two kids are upset with him for not taking his blood pressure medications. But anger turns to fear as they realize he could die or lose his leg.Also, a young woman on the verge of winning a rock climbing competition loses her foothold and plunges 25 feet to the ground missing the landing mat. She vows to get back up on the wall soon, but now it’s up to orthopedic doctors who must try to repair her broken foot.
Elsewhere, a young man who was lacerated by a knife-wielding assailant baffles doctors with his calm, Zen-like demeanor.
Finally, a man tries to tries to save his wife from falling down a flight of stairs, but ends up tumbling down with her. They reunite in the ER. (Courtesy ABC)
