Remember last February, when Jay Leno made his first post-Tonight Show appearance to tell his friend Arsenio Hall that his show had been renewed for a second season? Well, CBS Television Distribution has changed their mind. They’ve cancelled The Arsenio Hall Show after one season.
The series had a very positive launch last year but the ratings started falling quickly and they never recovered. The studio tried replacing the executive producer and inviting some big guests but it just wasn’t enough.
A spokesperson for the studio said, “While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue… Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”
Hall noted, “When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge – I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created. I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night.”
What do you think? Did you like watching Hall’s new show? Are you upset that it’s been cancelled?
Arsenio Hall was the only late night show that I would DVR each night. It is a shame that CBS back tracked on the show. I liked the guest he brought on to interview, because you’d never see them on any other show. I hope BET picks the show up.
I’m very upset that “Intelligence” and “Believe” have been cancelled. Again, to be judged on a “13 episode season” doesn’t make sense. How many of the most successful shows on television needed that first season under their belts and then got better and better. I am a big fan of both of these shows. They are different, intelligent (no pun intended), really interesting and entertaining. They should definitely be given another chance. One of the problem with the new shows is that we see a few episodes and then they take a break. Often the shows change days and times.… Read more »
Extremely upset to hear that my boy Arsenio was cancelled. He invited guests on the show that you wouldn’t see anywhere else. it’s just a s hamehow the network played him after they had ok’d him for a second season smh.
Bye until the next show.
To bad, hes great.so funny.
Really cancelled… That show was great in the 90s and its still great… Arsenio Hall Show was real… I liked it because he had actors, singers, and etc that somewhat Disappear from the spotlight… Can’t believe it is cancelled… Woo woo woo.. Lol um just saying
I’m shocked the show was cancelled. Arsenio was my replacement for my need for Jay Leno. Arsenio is such an impressional person. He was fun to watch. Best wishes to you. No, I’ll quit watching last night tv. Atenna tv fills that void.
His show was lame in the ’90’s and it’s still lame today, it was too “look at me”, all about him and it tanked, get the hook.
Best wishes Arensio!
I’m sorry that the show was cancelled. We need more diversity — especially on late night. Couldn’t some people have been brought in to “spice up” the show, etc.? Better format?
The show sucked, Arsenio sucks at interviewing people. I knew this show wouldn’t last, the only episode that made me laugh my ass off was when he had Tracy Morgan unfortunately Arsenio had to bring on this girl to yell out a poem about race.
I didn’t watch it much, but that’s even shocking to me.
That is so sad. I like Aresenio, and I hope he get’s another chance somewhere else.
Nope, never saw that coming….
Wasn’t The Arsenio Hall Show cancelled back in the 90s the first time also?
