The Bastard Executioner: Season Two Chances Uncertain Says Katey Sagal

by Regina Avalos, November 10, 2015

bastard-executioner-katey-sagal

The Bastard Executioner is currently airing its first season on FX, but there is no word yet on season two. Yahoo spoke with Katey Sagal, one of the stars of the drama about the series’ chances for renewal, and she admitted that she did not know much about its renewal chances.

She said:

“Yeah. I don’t know that answer yet [about a renewal]. … I think Kurt comes from the writing school of not holding back. I think that the story will be really fulfilling for people that have been following along. Questions will be answered, and of course doors will be left open as well. We’ll get closer to understanding what Annora’s deal is, and why she’s moving all her pieces around. Some of those pieces will be explained. How does that sound? Vague enough?”

The series is the latest creation from Kurt Sutter, who brought Sons of Anarchy to the same network. Season one of the new FX is almost ready to wrap. With no word yet from FX, some fans are wondering if the series will close out with just one season.

Do you want a second season of The Bastard Executioner? Tell us what you think.

Each episode reveals a bit more of the main characters’ journeys and the ‘great plan’ intended for Wilkin and Annora. This series grows on one and I look forward eagerly to it each week. I even foreswore a showing of Cumberbatch’s Hamlet to stay home for episode 9! I watch each episode twice in case I miss a nuance or phrase the helps with explication. I do hope FX gives the show a second season. I find it much more interesting than the second seasons of True Detective or Fargo or even American Horror story–Hotel!

Love the time period and setting! Power struggles, brutality, violence and political scheming were common place in that era. (Wow! Centuries later it still continues). Lee Jones and Flora Spencer-Longhurst are great together! I enjoy watching Wilkin and Lady Love’s relationship develop week to week and hope to continue watching season two! Please continue!

Yes!!!! Bring it back for season 2. This story line is so deep and enticing. I’m hooked and have been from Episode 1. While watching this show, I am sometimes in awe of the story and how it comes from what’s in Kurt Sutter’s mind….his vision, perception, and ability to tell a story that is inconceivable to most people’s minds is absolutely AMAZING!!! oh to be a fly on the wall when he is creating a script would be truly a gift.

Oh and he gets criticized for the violence in the show…..seriously has anyone read a history book? Violence was a staple in medieval times….the violence in this show is perfect for the storyline…..it’s about an Executioner for goodness sakes….

I’m with you. Yes, yes yes keep it!!! Kurt is a great writer and has a lot more to offer for this show and the actors and actresses are wonderful. I told my 12 year old son not to watch it but he has been and now we are watching it together, so don’t take our family time away. LOL! Love the show, keep it!!!!

This show has two modes, unbelievably dull and excruciatingly and gratuitously cruel. The lead actor is as compelling as limp lettuce. Moyer is almost cartoonish in his despicable me act and it is a complete waste of Sagal’s fine talents. Don’t get me started on the awful dialogue, improbable band of brothers shtick and the hokey imagery in between the impaling, disemboweling and nail pulling. The bright spot? Sagal’s daughter can act.

Yes, yes, yes. Love this show. The characters need a little fleshing out but that’s what you get in the second season. Kurt Sutter is a great writer. He ended Sons so well.

This show deserves a second season. Fine acting, writing and directing–pluses that many shows lack. I’m not one who usually looks forward to a show, but this one keeps me interested.
