The show follows young and immature Emperor Kuzco (J.P. Manoux). In order to return to his rightful place on the Incan throne, Kuzco needs to finish his schooling at Kuzco Academy (named after him because he funded it). His father, the former emperor, was lost at sea and the whereabouts of his mother are unknown.
Yzma (Earth Kitt) and Kronk Pepikrankenits (Patrick Warburton) don’t want Kuzco to succeed in his education and return to the throne. Yzma was once the Royal Adviser to the Emperor, but was fired for interfering in his affairs and pretending to be the Empress. Always scheming against him, she once turned him into a llama while trying to poison him. But now, she just tries to stop him from doing well in school. Kronk, a big muscular man, acts as Yzma’s henchman. He’s a classmate of Kuzco’s who often refers to him as “Meathead.”
Kuzco has a crush on a “hottie hot hottie” girl from his school, Malina (Jessica Di Cicco). She’s both a cheerleader and the school council president, and prints the Academy’s news scroll as well. A perfectionist, she also has high morals and uses that to keep Kuzco at bay.
In the movie, Pacha is a peasant who is told by Kuzco that his ancestral home is going to be knocked down. In this series, Pacha (Fred Tatasciore, later John Goodman) is like a father to Kuzco, giving him advice, and allowing him to live with him. Chicha (Wendie Malick) is Pacha’s wife, and they have three young children; Chaca, Tipo, and Yupi.
